About AGX AI
Advancing responsible AI for small-scale producers

What is AGX AI?
AGX AI is a collaborative initiative led by DevGlobal, Dev-Afrique and Athena Infonomics, to accelerate the responsible design, development, and delivery of generative AI tools and services for small-scale producers (SSPs) in Africa and Asia. Funded by the Gates Foundation, the project builds a vibrant, aligned community to ensure that AI serves the people who grow the world’s food.
Our Purpose
As AI evolves rapidly, the global agriculture sector must work together to ensure smallholder farmers aren’t left behind. AGX AI brings together diverse actors–researchers, funders, implementers, technologists, policymakers, and producers–around a shared goal: shaping inclusive and equitable AI solutions that work for SSPs in low- and middle-income countries.
The Flow of Impact
AGX AI operates through a reinforcing cycle designed to move from dialogue to direction to delivery. At the center of this flow is the AGX AI Community—a growing network committed to shaping equitable AI advisory systems that work in practice, not just in theory. Together, this cycle creates momentum: from vision to shared standards, from standards to action, and from action back to collective learning.
Convenings
We bring people together to build relationships, identify priorities, and amplify the voices of small-scale producers. These meetings help ensure innovation reflects real-world needs. View Events
